Didactic Program in Dietetics

Nutrition & Dietetics Club

Nutrition & Dietetics Club - This student-run organization offers numerous opportunities for Nutrition students at all levels of education to get involved with nutrition event planning, participate in meetings with special speakers, identify volunteer and paid nutrition opportunities, and build strong experiential resumes for application to supervised practice or graduate school.

OSU Service Learning Program

OSU Service Learning Program – Students were given the opportunity to develop consumer nutrition messages to support best health and deliver this information to grocery store tour participants at the point of decision making. This program is now administered by students for non-nutrition majors and potentially other target audiences in the community allowing Pre-dietetic and Dietetic students a venue in which to develop evidence-based messages and public speaking. Training to participate is available prior to fall quarter with activity largely occurring in Fall. Contact Michelle Bump for more information.

Moore Family Center

Moore Family Center for Whole Grain Foods, Nutrition & Preventive Health – Students may participate in educational events organized by this Center housed on the second floor of Milam Hall. Volunteer and paid opportunities to assist with messaging, classes or event logistics are often available to Pre-dietetic and Dietetic students. Emily Ho, nutrition professor, serves as the director of this Center at OSU.

Oregon State Extension Service

Extension – Pre-dietetic and Dietetic students often find opportunities to volunteer or apply for paid positions to assist with foods and nutrition programming associated with the vast Extension Services based at OSU.

KidSpirit

KidSpirit – Students gain valuable organizational skills and practice implementing curricula with this child edutainment organization on campus. Foods and nutrition specific offerings have included an offering called “Iron Chef” where OSU students organize grade school and junior high kids to prepare and present various healthful dishes. A number of skill building opportunities are available with this organization.

OSU Athletics Nutrition

OSU Athletics Nutrition – A number of students work as volunteers and/or paid staff with the Sports Dietitian serving the OSU Beavers.
