Understand how nutrition impacts health throughout a lifetime. In the nutrition science minor, you’ll study the science behind nutrients, health promotion and disease prevention while gaining skills in research, communication and critical thinking.

What you’ll learn
By completing the nutrition science minor, you’ll be able to:
- Describe key determinants of health and nutrition strategies for health promotion
- Apply evidence-based nutrition science literature to solve problems and evaluate claims
- Use current information technologies to support nutrition learning and decision-making
- Communicate effectively and professionally about nutrition in writing and speaking
- Identify food sources that meet nutrient needs across the lifespan
- Recognize how race, gender, age, socioeconomic status and body size influence nutrition-related health disparities
Requirements
To earn the nutrition science minor, you must meet the eligibility requirements and complete the required courses.
Eligibility requirements
All majors, except nutrition majors, may add the nutrition science minor.
- Have a minimum OSU GPA of 2.0
- All courses must be taken for a letter (A-F) grade
- No more than two attempts at any course or pre-requisite
- Have a minimum C- grade in any course or pre-requisite
