This combination of courses and hands-on experiences have been strategically assembled to grow an experiential understanding of fitness and wellness, and lead to competitive placement in Recreational Sports, PAC and Faculty Staff Fitness, as well as post-graduation kinesiology careers.
Program levels
Level 1 - Apprentice
Education
PAC 289: Fitness and Wellness Leadership I
American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid or American Red Cross First Aid
CPR/AED for Adult and Child or BLS for Healthcare Providers
Volunteer/Concurrent Employment
30 hours: PAC 203 Practicum Level 1
or
30 hours: employment @ Rec Sports- Fitness and Wellness Representative
or
30 hours: employment KIN 409: Practicum eligible for volunteer/shadow
or
Combination of any of the above to reach 30 hours
Outcome Upon Completion
Recreational Sports Fitness Training Specialist/Group Fitness Specialist or FSF/PAC Apprentice
Level 2 - Practitioner
Education
PAC 290: Fitness and Wellness Leadership II

30 hours: PAC 204 Practicum Level 2

Level 3 - Mentor
Education
(Waivers and Grants Available through Recreational Sports)
Choose ONE general NCCA certification for more variety in employment:
- Personal Training: (ACSM CPT, ACE, NSCA CPT, NASM)
- Group Fitness: (ACE Group Fit, AFFA, ACSM Group Fitness Instructor)
or
Choose ONE specialty certification for employment in genre:
- USA Weightlifting, Zumba, Stages Cycling, or Yoga Alliance (or PAC Yoga Teacher Training Leadership Program), YogaFit
Volunteer/Concurrent Employment
30 hours: PAC 204 Practicum Level 2
