Physical Activity Course (PAC) Program
Core to the mission of the Physical Activity Course Program is lifelong engagement in physical activity. To encourage this we must develop leaders who will guide that change. We provide a variety of leadership programs that prepare individuals to teach and champion physical activity in a variety of disciplines.
Pivotal in the leadership development of these programs are the five core learning theories that are modeled and implemented in the program: Kolb’s Experiential Learning, Accident Potential Model, Stages of Group Development, Growth Mindset and Situational Leadership.
While the content is unique to each discipline, we believe the transferable skills developed in each will transcend all areas of life for students who engage in these programs.
The ALI Leadership Program is one of the most comprehensive leadership programs available. It uses adventure leadership activities as a vehicle to discuss and practice leadership theories and skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, group development, communication and social change. It provides a classroom unlike any other in the world.
The combination of courses and hands-on experiences in the OSU Fitness and Wellness Leadership Program have been strategically assembled to grow an experiential understanding of fitness and wellness, and lead to competitive placement in Recreational Sports, PAC and Faculty Staff Fitness, as well as post-graduation kinesiology careers.
The PAC SCUBA Divemaster Leadership Program utilizes the professional certification tracks of PADI Diving, guided teacher training and practice, with opportunities in equipment and air fill management to make this a unique experience to OSU.
Become a social dance teacher, learning all styles of dance and building a strong foundation in either Ballroom Dance or Country Western. Guided mentorship to deliver dance classes in your chosen discipline. This Social Dance Teacher Training Leadership Program will prepare you to teach community based social dance.
The Yoga Teacher Training Leadership Program provides a unique combination of training and supervised teaching experience founded on our core learning theories. Students will get hands on teaching practice, develop leadership skills and deepen their relationship with yoga.
