What inspired or interested you about your field of study? And why did you choose Oregon State?
I always knew I wanted to do something in the allied health professions and kinesiology was going to be my ticket into all of those fields. I ultimately chose occupational therapy and Oregon State has some incredible courses in adapted fitness that made me very excited about the program.
What are you doing in your internship and/or what is your main project?
At EBA, I developed and taught inclusive group fitness classes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our focus was on enhancing both social and physical well-being. I also collaborated closely with our volunteer team, coordinating schedules and ensuring smooth class operations.
What do you see as the greatest value of your internship? Or, what have you learned the most in your internship?
While I've volunteered at EBA for about five years, this internship provided invaluable firsthand experience. Witnessing the remarkable progress of the athletes each week was incredible. They brought so much joy and excitement to class every day and never failed to make me laugh.
What are your post-college dreams/plans?
My dream is to be an occupational therapist and following graduation, I will attend an OTD program.
