What inspired or interested you about athletic training? And why did you choose Oregon State for your athletic training degree?

When I was a collegiate athlete, my athletic trainer greatly impacted my life and was an unconditional source of support and hope in times of difficulty and fear. I want to pass on this same compassion and service. A mentor encouraged me to apply to the MATRN program at OSU because of the sense of family and the standard of excellence within the program.

What did you do during your internship with the Seattle Seahawks?

I was a summer athletic training intern. I worked to assist the Seattle Seahawks’ sports medicine team with medical care during summer training camp and pre-season.

What do you see as the greatest value of your internship? Or, what have you learned the most in your internship?

I learned the importance of building a relationship of trust with your patients. As an athletic trainer, you see people at their greatest and their toughest most vulnerable moments. It is vital to be an individual that they trust and feel seen by as not only a football player but a human being.

What are your post-college dreams?

I would love to be a collegiate football athletic trainer.

What do you think of your experience at Oregon State?

At Oregon State, I belong to a community that both challenges me to reach beyond what I thought I was capable of and supports me in the journey. I have found a family here and am very proud to be a Beaver.

Have you received a scholarship?

The Oregon State University Graduate School Professional Development Award helped fund an opportunity to attend the regional NWATA conference spring 2023 where I was able to further my knowledge, meet many amazing athletic trainers and mentors, represent OSU in the 2023 NWATA Koto-Steele Quiz Bowl, and be inspired to pursue this career. I also received funding from the Oregon State University College of Health to represent OSU at the national level for the 2023 NATA Quiz Bowl competition and to attend the National NATA Conference.
