As of 2012, Oregon has in place a system that allows it to answer policy-relevant questions about the early learning workforce employed in regulated facilities. This brief describes the 2012 workforce and enables decision makers to assess both the strengths and weaknesses of this workforce, information that is critical for making informed decisions about investments in professional development. This first brief provides baseline data on the workforce. Having baseline data allows Oregon to measure the impact of investments on critical measures of workforce characteristics.
