Effective Investments in the Child Care and Early Education Profession: A Review of the Research Literature
Abstract
Created to inform policy-making in Oregon's public and private sectors, this literature review takes a broad view by reporting research findings related to professional development; articulation across types of professional development; scholarship, compensation, and retention initiatives; and integration of the Oregon Community Foundation's scholarship programs into Oregon's child care and early education system. It contains a review of the literature on professional development. Other sections are informed by what research has found about professional development that improves teacher behavior, program quality, and child outcomes.
