Ecampus Development Process for Programs/Certificates/Microcredentials
1. Pre-Proposal
Faculty / SH Faculty will discuss proposal idea with their academic program leadership. SH will decide whether the idea is worth further exploration based on College and School priorities.
2. Pre-Proposal
Faculty / DOP Faculty will connect with DOP to engage Ecampus leadership to discuss ideas for new developments. Ecampus leadership will set up meetings with faculty and conduct market analysis if needed. Ecampus leadership then decides whether to invite proposal submission.
3. Pre-Proposal
SH The School Head will determine faculty developers, workload, and timeframe, including consultations with program director and/or ADAP for curricular delivery. The DOP can be consulted as needed about Ecampus or program needs.
4. College Proposal
Faculty When plan is finalized, faculty will submit college curricular proposals to assistant to ADAFA and ADAFA to initiate curricular process, including program/certificate/microcredential proposal and new course proposals. Consider the timeline for COH curriculum proposals. Ecampus will not approve curriculum proposals until MOU is submitted.
5. Ecampus Proposal
Faculty Once college curricular committee approves, faculty will provide the DOP with necessary information to submit proposal, including curriculum, development schedule, and faculty involved. SH and ADAFA will be consulted as needed for proposal information.
6. Proposal
DOP DOP will submit the Ecampus proposal and liaison with Ecampus and the School Head.
7. Post-Proposal
SH / DOP MOU will be signed by the School Head and DOP.
8. Post-Proposal
Faculty Once the MOU is signed, Ecampus will send an automatic email notification to faculty developers with information about their assignment. Faculty will note agreement to the terms for course development.
9. Post-Proposal
DOP The DOP will send a confirmation of the plans (not MOU) to the faculty, ADAP and School Head that includes the courses, timeline, and resources for development (COH best practices).
Ecampus Development/Redevelopment Process for Individual Courses
The following schedule by term is ideal, however it is possible to prepare and submit an Ecampus proposal at any time during the academic year as needs arise.

Development / Redevelopment
- Course development/redevelopment are typically scheduled over two terms
- Faculty may be required to complete an online workshop as part of their development/redevelopment
- Utilize the COH Best Practices for Online Course Development and collaborate with instructional designer on Quality Matters principles
Post Course Development / Redevelopment
After a new or redeveloped course has been taught at least one term, if you’re interested, get the course Quality Matters (QM) certified.
- Sign up for a QM training. This training requires 20 hours of work over two weeks and teaches faculty the components of the research-based QM rubric and how to apply the rubric to existing courses.
- Have your course QM reviewed.
