The College of Public Health and Human Sciences Faculty Excellence Award recognizes a professorial faculty who has distinguished him/herself, the college, and the profession and who epitomizes excellence in teaching, research, and/or outreach.

Eligibility

Eligible individuals include full time members of the faculty who:

  • Possess a graduate degree in a field of study in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences
  • Have more than six years of professional experience at Oregon State University
  • Have distinguished him/herself through contributions to the College of Public Health and Sciences in one or more of the following areas:
    • Teaching
    • Research
    • Publication
    • Creative production
    • Administration
    • Other professional endeavors

Only one award will be conferred each year. If there is no qualified candidate, the award will not be conferred.

Awards

The recipient receives a commemorative plaque and $500. The recipient’s name is also added to a perpetual plaque in the Women’s Building. The award will be presented by the dean of the College of Public Health and Human Sciences at the Annual Fall College Meeting.

Nomination procedures

The Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs will issue a call for nominations via email to all faculty and staff of the College of Public Health and Human Sciences. Nominations may be made by any member of the college. Nomination shall include

  • One letter of nomination
  • Three letters of support
  • Position description
  • Current vita

Award Selection Committee

An Awards Committee appointed by the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs will consist of faculty and staff in the college. The committee will forward a recommendation(s) to the ADAFA who shall make the final selection.

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences Excellence in Outreach Award recognizes a professorial, instructor, or professional faculty member who has had considerable success in disseminating programs to individuals, communities, and/or other states, regions, or countries with proven results in enhancing the health and well being of individuals.

Eligibility

Full time professorial, instructor, and professional faculty of the College of Public Health and Human Sciences are eligible. Only one award will be conferred each year. If there is no qualified candidate, the award will not be conferred.

Award

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring Award recognizes a full time professorial, instructor, or professional faculty member who exhibits the highest standards of teaching and/or mentoring for undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Eligibility

Full-time (1.00 FTE) professorial, instructors, and professional faculty in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences are eligible. Only one award will be conferred each year. If there is no qualified candidate, the award will not be conferred.

Award

The recipient will receive a commemorative plaque and a $500 award. The recipient’s name is also added to a perpetual plaque in the Women’s Building. The award will be presented by the dean of the College of Public Health and Human Sciences during the Annual Fall College Meeting.

  • Information on courses taught including approximate enrollments and frequency that courses have been taught or mentoring role
  • Summaries of OSU student evaluations of teaching or mentoring
  • Summary of peer evaluation of teaching or mentoring

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences Professional Faculty and Staff Excellence Award recognizes a member of the college staff (classified or unclassified) who exhibits outstanding job performance and dedicated service to the individual’s unit and/or to the college.

Eligibility

Classified and unclassified staff with at least .5 FTE appointment in the college are eligible for the award. Typically one award will be conferred each year. If a qualified recipient cannot be selected, the award will not be conferred.

Award
