Zoom advising appointments

Zoom is a user-friendly video conferencing tool available to OSU at no cost.

View Zoom – Getting Started to see how to install and use Zoom. Please install and sign in to Zoom using your ONID prior to your appointment.

Appointment types

College of Health advisors offer three types of appointments:

  • Option 1 and Option 2 are preferable as they allow you to review My Degrees together.
    • Please schedule your appointment at a time when you have access to device and internet.
  • Option 3 is only intended for individuals who do not have access to a computer or internet on a regular basis.

Available via computer/smart device (camera and internet connection required).

 

Scheduling Your Appointment

  • Advising Type: When scheduling your appointment, please select the “Zoom Video (camera required)” option from the drop-down menu. You will also be able to share screens during this appointment.
  • After scheduling your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email. Please save this email for your reference.
  • This confirmation email will include:

 

At the time of your appointment

  • Please make sure that you are in a quiet location where your confidential information will remain secure.
  • The use of headphones with a microphone to improve the audio quality is encouraged.
  • Sign in to Zoom using your ONID and password.
  • Click the link provided in your confirmation email.
    • If the link is not available or not working, click “Join a Meeting” and enter the Personal Meeting ID of your Academic Advisor.
    • If you do not have access to your Zoom Meeting Link or Academic Advisor’s Personal Meeting ID, please contact the Office of Student Success at 541-737-8900.
  • You will then be placed in a virtual “waiting room” until your advisor is able to meet with you.
  • Once your Academic Advisor admits you to the meeting, check your Audio and Video.
    • Audio/Video: make sure that the microphone and movie camera icons at the bottom left do not have a red line across them.
  • If you have been in the “waiting room” for more than 5 minutes after your appointment was scheduled to begin, contact the Office of Student Success at 541-737-8900.

  • After scheduling your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email. Please save this email for your reference.

Available via phone (no internet connection required).

Please Note: this option is available to students who do not have access to internet, a computer, or a smart device. You can use this option with any working cell phone or landline. There may be a long-distance cost associated with this option based on your location and phone plan.

 

Scheduling Your Appointment

  • Advising Type: When scheduling your appointment, please select the “Zoom Audio Appointment (phone required)” option from the drop-down menu.
  • After scheduling your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email. Please save this email for your reference.
  • This confirmation email will include:

 

At the time of your appointment

  • Please make sure that you are in a quiet location where your confidential information will remain secure.
  • The use of headphones with a microphone to improve the audio quality is encouraged.
  • Dial the appropriate phone number for your country (including the United States), located here: OSU Zoom Phone Numbers.
    • You will be prompted to enter the Personal Meeting ID of your Academic Advisor, followed by the # sign.
    • After your Academic Advisor has started the meeting, you will be asked to enter a participant ID or press # to continue. You do NOT need a participant ID. Press # to continue.
  • You will be placed in a virtual “waiting room” until your advisor admits you to the meeting. Then proceed as if you are in a phone call.
  • If you have been in the “waiting room” for more than 5 minutes after your appointment was scheduled to begin, contact the Office of Student Success at 541-737-8900.
