Tobacco-Free OSU Initiative

Oregon State University’s Corvallis campus has been completely smoke-free, indoors and outdoors, since September 2012. As a student, faculty or staff member, or campus vistor or affiliate, you are not allowed to smoke or use e-cigarettes or other vaping products while on campus.

Oregon State University’s Corvallis campus has been completely smoke-free, indoors and outdoors, since September 2012. This policy includes cigarettes and other combustible tobacco products such as cigars, pipes, and hookahs, and it also includes e-cigarettes and other vaping products.

With this policy, OSU is one of thousands of campuses (pdf) in the Pacific Northwest and around the United States that are smoke-free or completely tobacco-free.

In spring 2013, a survey was conducted on the Corvallis campus, engaging all students, faculty and staff to ask their opinions about the newly enacted smoke-free policy. The Executive Summary and descriptive graphs are available here.

The OSU Tobacco Policy Task Force is currently engaging the University community in a process to consider a 100% tobacco-free policy (including smokeless as well as combustible smoking products) for all OSU-owned or OSU-controlled properties.
