Sam Logan, PhD
Assistant Professor
Director, Social Mobility Lab and PlayTech Workshop

Dr. Logan earned BA (Psychology) and MS (Exercise Sciences) degrees from the University of Delaware. He earned a PhD (Kinesiology) from Auburn University under the direction of Dr. Leah Robinson. Before joining OSU in 2014, he completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Delaware in the Department of Physical Therapy under the direction of Dr. Cole Galloway.

His research agenda focuses on the health and wellbeing of typically developing children and children with disabilities, with recent work emphasizing the role of independent mobility in the development of language, cognition, play interactions, and motor behaviors of children diagnosed with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, and other significant physical and cognitive diagnoses. His research is interdisciplinary in nature, bridging the fields of Kinesiology, Psychology and Pediatric Rehabilitation.

Current Graduate Students

Michele Catena, DPT, PhD Student
Michele earned a BS degree in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University. She earned a Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She has been a licensed and practicing pediatric physical therapist since 2012.  She is a PhD Student within the Kinesiology program (Adapted Physical Activity option) at OSU.

Winston Kennedy, DPT, PhD student.
Winston earned a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Florida International University. He has been a licensed and practicing physical therapist since 2015. He is a PhD student within the Kinesiology program (Adapted Physical Activity option) at OSU.

Joseline Raja, PhD student.

Joseline earned a Master’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut. She is a PhD student within the Kinesiology program (Adapted Physical Activity option) at OSU

Christina Hospodar

Christina Hospodar, MS

Originally from Connecticut, Christina earned a BS degree in Health and Exercise Science and Spanish from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Christina graduated from OSU with an MS in Kinesiology (Adapted Physical Activity, 2018). She is currently a PhD student in the developmental psychology program at New York University under the direction of Dr. Karen Adolph.

Chun-Wei Chang, OT, MS
Chun-Wei graduated from OSU with an MS in Kinesiology (Adapted Physical Activity, 2019). She is a practicing occupational therapy in Taiwan and is interested in pursuing PhD studies in the near future.

Samantha RossSamantha Ross, PhD
Dr. Ross earned a BS degree in Human Physiology and Psychology from the University of Oregon and an MS degree in Exercise and Sport Science from OSU under the direction of Dr. Megan MacDonald. She graduated from OSU with an MPH (Epidemiology, 2018) and PhD in Kinesiology (Adapted Physical Activity, 2019). She is currently an assistant professor within the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences at West Virginia University.

Christina Cafferata
Christina Cafferata is a senior in Kinesiology and enrolled in the Honors College at OSU. The Undergraduate, Research, Scholarship, and the Arts Engage program supported her research experience during the 2017-2018 academic year. She was awarded the Waldo Cummings Outstanding Student Award (2018). Christina was awarded the 2nd annual Florence Wood Award of Impact and Legacy (2019).

Apoorva Ayyagari earned an MS degree in Biological Engineering in 2018 from OSU. The DeLoach Work Scholarship supported her research experience during the 2015-2016 academic year. She is currently enrolled in the Master’s of Biomedical Engineering program at Northwestern University.

Erica earned a BS degree in Kinesiology (Pre-Therapy and Allied Health Option) in 2017 from OSU. She is enrolled in the doctorate of occupational therapy program at the University of Washington— St. Louis.

Erika CooleyErika Cooley
Erika earned a BS degree in Kinesiology (Pre-Therapy and Allied Health option) in 2015 from OSU. The Undergraduate Research Award Program supported her research experience during the 2014-2015 academic year. She is currently enrolled at Colorado State University in the occupational therapy graduate program.

Haylee will graduate in Spring of 2016 and has been accepted to the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at the University of Delaware.

Sarah earned a BS degree in Public Health (Health Promotion and Health Behavior) and an Honors Baccalaureate degree from OSU (2019). The Undergraduate, Research, Scholarship, and the Arts Engage program supported her research experience during the 2016-2017 academic year. She is currently enrolled in the nursing program at Creighton University.
