The global health minor gives you a strong foundation in public health with a focus on health equity, cultural competence and global challenges. You’ll explore how migration, discrimination and other social forces shape health outcomes across communities and borders.

Whether you’re pursuing a career in health care, public health or another field, this minor will help you understand and address complex health issues in diverse populations.

This program is offered fully online through Ecampus.

What you’ll learn

By completing the global health minor, you’ll be able to:

  • Explain key public health principles and social determinants of health
  • Understand how U.S. public health systems work together
  • Use public health methods to address emerging health issues
  • Analyze how culture, behavior and environment impact health
  • Communicate health information clearly and effectively
  • Integrate basic concepts of human biology and life sciences with strategies for prevention and promotion across populations

Requirements

To earn the global health undergraduate minor, you must meet the eligibility requirements and complete the required courses.

Eligibility requirements

Open to all OSU majors, including public health.

  • Have a minimum OSU GPA of 2.0
  • All courses must be taken for a letter (A-F) grade
  • No more than two attempts at any course or pre-requisite
  • Have a minimum C- grade in any course or pre-requisite
