Lab Director

Laurel Kincl, PhD
Professor
Dr. Kincl received her MS in Industrial Hygiene and PhD in Occupational Safety and Ergonomics from the University of Cincinnati. Before joining OSU in 2011, Dr. Kincl was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) in Barcelona, Spain for two years and a Research Associate at the Labor Education and Research Center at the University of Oregon from 2003-2009. Her research focuses on quantifying, communicating and controlling occupational and environmental exposures to health and safety hazards. She has a particular interest in reducing adverse health outcomes with targeted interventions.

Amelia Vaughan, MLIS
Project Manager
Amelia is a 3rd generation librarian with over a decade of experience managing science outreach programs. She helps to manage the lab’s many research projects, including collecting data about injuries in the commercial fisheries. She holds a B.S in Health Promotion and Education from Oregon State and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from San Jose State.

Sharon Chang, MPH
Project Coordinator
Sharon is a project coordinator for various research projects at OSU's College of Health, including the FLIPP for Lifejackets project. She is also a PhD candidate in Public Health (concentration in Environmental and Occupational Health) and holds an MPH from the University of Southern California. In her free time, she enjoys singing, volunteering at the Majestic Theater, and watching movies.

Mariam Buqammaz, MPH, MSc
PhD candidate
Mariam is a PhD candidate in Environmental and Occupational Health at Oregon State University, focusing on occupational health, injury prevention, and exposure assessment. She holds an MPH in Environmental and Occupational Health from Kuwait University, where she is also a mission scholar. As part of this affiliation, Kuwait University sponsors her studies at OSU. She also holds an MSc in Corporate and International Finance from Durham University UK. Her research aims to improve occupational health and safety across various industries, particularly for migrant workers.

Hayley (Strenke) Williams
Hayley received her MPH in Public Health with a concentration in Environmental and Occupational Health and is now a senior safety management consultant at SAIF Corporation in Eugene OR
Richie Envoy
Richie graduated with a PhD in Public Health with a concentration in environmental and occupational health. He is currently the project lead for the Wildland Firefighter Health and Safety Program at CDC/NIOSH.
Cherry (Liu) Yang
Cherry received her PhD in Public Health concentrated on environmental and occupational health and is currently a Research Associate in Occupational Health program at the University of New Hampshire.
Laura Syron
Laura graduated with her PhD in Public Health with a concentration in environmental and occupational health and is currently an Epidemiologist in the NIOSH Western States Division at CDC/NIOSH.
Devin Lucas
Devin graduated with his PhD in Public Health with a concentration in environmental and occupational health and is currently an Epidemiologist in the NIOSH Western States Division at CDC/NIOSH.
Melissa Meyers
Melissa graduated with her BS in health management and policy and is now a Behavioral Health Technician at Deschutes County Public Health.
Miles Havard
Miles graduated with a BS in public health and went on to receive his Master’s in Social Work at Portland State University. He is now a Training and Development Specialist at Cascadia Health in Portland, OR.
Abeer Doza
Abeer graduated with his PhD in Public Health with a concentration in environmental and occupational health. He is currently an Associate Service Fellow at CDC/NIOSH.
