Accurately assessing a person’s exposures to environmental toxicants is central to the challenge of determining environmental health effects. The lack of low cost, easy-to-use personal sampling technology hinders epidemiological studies especially in disadvantaged populations. 

We have developed common wristbands to serve as passive samplers that quantitatively integrate chemical exposure and that can be used with other technologies.  For this study, we have linked it with a special application on a mobile phone to track location as well as a portable spirometer (Fig. 1).
