Why did you choose OSU for your Public Health graduate degree?

I chose Oregon State University because I had heard so many amazing things about the university. I wanted to get my graduate degree while still working, and OSU provided the ability to do this. Being remote has allowed flexibility in when I complete classes and where I take them. I have been able to stay at my current job and in my current city, making it very easy to pursue my degree!

What is your favorite course you have taken so far?

I'm just starting and am looking forward to taking global health this term. I am very interested in this subject, and I am excited to learn more!

Most memorable experience in the program?

Once I was admitted to the program for the fall cohort, I decided I wanted to take a class over the summer. I was able to start early, allowing me to pursue my degree even faster than I had expected. Due to being admitted for the fall cohort, I had not yet been assigned an advisor. The MPH Administrative Director was willing to meet with me over Zoom to discuss the classes that were recommended for me to take first and acted as an advisor until I was assigned one. I was very grateful that they took time out of their day to give me guidance and made me feel well-supported when starting my degree!

What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a graduate degree in Public Health?

I would highly recommend anyone thinking about pursuing a graduate degree in public health to do it! So far, the information and coursework have been very interesting and applicable to current-day issues.

If you were to recommend the MPH or Public Health PhD program to a close friend, what would you say?

The flexibility of the program has been amazing and has made getting my degree so much easier than I expected.
