Why did you choose Oregon State University to pursue your MPH degree?

Oregon State University has top tier professors that are connected to and involved in their professional practice with real world application.

What was your most memorable experience in the MPH Program?

Making it through H513 and really feeling like there we were all in this together for the remainder of the program. Overall, being deeply integrated in an intellectually stimulating conversation and being surrounded by motivated students was memorable.

If you were to recommend the MPH at Oregon State to a close friend, what would you tell them?

I would emphasize the wholesome feeling of closeness that I felt at Oregon State University . The campus was easy to learn and staff were not only interested in wanting to provide education but foster personal and professional development.

What were the most impactful 2 or 3 courses that you took during your MPH program? Why were they impactful?

1. Infectious Disease Epidemiology 2. Dr. Chi's Global Health Seminar Courses

What advice would you give current MPH students to get the most out of their program?

Learn tangible skills that translate directly over to employment.

How did you maintain study-work-life balance during school, and what advice do you have in this regard to current students?

I would do something every day that related to graduate studies to build healthy study habits. I would emphasize that it is important to have a life outside of academic studies. I used cooking as my means of relaxation.

What is the best part of your current job?

That I am able to see the human condition on a daily basis and feel that I play a role in helping individuals heal and recover from medical illnesses and procedures.

What resources did you find most helpful during your job search?

Career and development center in fine tuning my resume and cover letter.

What advice would you give current students as it relates to the job search?

Be open-minded.
