Moore Family Center

The Moore Family Center and a team of Farm to School Teens as Teachers bring family cooking classes to elementary students in Greater Albany Public Schools.

Growing Healthy Families

A free, remote cooking and nutrition class for K-3rd grade kids and families in Greater Albany Public Schools!

Learn about the many foods grown right here in Oregon – and practice cooking delicious, nutritious recipes using featured foods each week.

Sessions are 4 weeks long (Session 5 is an exception), see schedule and registration links in the table below.

For

K-3rd graders AND their families, in the Greater Albany Public School District (older elementary-aged siblings welcome to join).

Where

Remote class, via Zoom.

When

3:45 – 5 p.m. (see schedule below for session days)

Format

  • First half-hour (3:45 – 4:15 p.m.) – K-3rd graders learn about Oregon-grown foods.
  • Last 45 minutes (4:15 – 5 p.m.) - Family Cooking Time!

Note Parent or guardian presence and participation is required for Family Cooking Time; siblings welcome for Family Cooking Time.

Other important info

Families will need to pick-up a Welcome Kit, which includes:

  • Winco gift card
  • recipes
  • weekly grocery lists
  • a fun cooking tool
  • children's supplies for class activities

Prior to each class, you will need to shop for recipe ingredients (using your Winco gift card and weekly grocery lists provided in the Welcome Kit).
