College of Health
The Inclusive Physical Activity Laboratory (iPAL) is focused on promoting physical activity for individuals with disabilities across the lifespan.
Our research seeks to understand health disparities, improve the quality of assessment practices, and design, evaluate and implement intervention programs to increase physical activity and improve health.
Areas of study include physical activity, physical fitness, motor competence, health promotion and quality-of-life.
The National Institutes of Health has designated people with disabilities as a population with health disparities, experiencing greater rates of illness, morbidity and early mortality. We believe that the lack of inclusive and accessible physical activity opportunities is one of the many factors that contribute to these disparities.
Our mission is to provide greater physical activity opportunities for individuals with disabilities through rigorous research and inclusive programming
