Athletic training, MATrn

Oregon State University Athletics

What inspired or interested you about your field of study? And why did you choose OSU/the college?

Athletic training is a perfect fit for me because I have always been passionate about helping others. Getting to work with athletes and help them achieve their goals is incredibly rewarding. I chose Oregon State to pursue this field of study as the program is well respected, and the university itself offers a good balance of big school amenities and facilities with a small school feel.

What are you doing in your internship and/or what is your main project?

I get to spend my days working with our amazing athletes under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer. We help make rehab plans and perform different kinds of treatment to keep our athletes ready to perform their best!

What do you see as the greatest value of your internship?

Having a space to practice and hone the clinical skills we learn in the classroom setting has been a huge help to my development. All of the athletes we work with have been very patient and understanding while we work out all of the kinks in our clinical skills and evaluations.

What do you think of your experience at OSU/in the college so far? Any stand-out experiences?

I’ve been lucky enough to have a lot of amazing learning opportunities during my time in the program. I was able to travel to El Paso for the Sun Bowl last season, work the Pac-12 Wrestling Championship and help host NCAA Baseball Regionals!

What are your post-college dreams/plans?

My dream is to work for a Division 1 college. I am hoping for a job with wrestling, football or baseball.
