William “Ropes” Robertson Endowed Athletic Training Student Success Fund

Honoring William "Ropes" Robertson's 34-Year Legacy

Support Athletic Training at OSU

In memory and recognition of his 34‑year career teaching and mentoring students and student‑athletes, family and alumni have established the William “Ropes” Robertson Endowed Athletic Training Student Success Fund. This fund honors OSU’s first athletic trainer and a co‑creator of the athletic training education program.

The endowment helps athletic training students remain focused on their studies and get established in the field by providing support for academic materials and supplies, experiential learning opportunities, travel and scholarships. By covering the initial costs of books and essential equipment, students can begin hands‑on training immediately. Fund support also allows students to travel with teams to competitions, where they gain real‑world, hands‑on experience responding to immediate situations. Once coursework is complete, the fund helps ensure that licensure costs are not a barrier to entering the profession, allowing graduates to move confidently and quickly into the workforce.

You can support the next generation of athletic trainers by making a gift to the fund at any time through the OSU Foundation’s giving page. Be the rope that helps students climb — toward confidence, opportunity, and a successful career.
