What is CORE Transitions?
Welcome to Oregon State University! As part of your education here, you'll need to take a 2-credit CORE Transitions course. This is a required part of OSU's Core Education for all students.
How will CORE Transitions help you?
CORE Transitions supports your transition to Oregon State University to make the most of your time here.
The course helps you navigate common challenges and offers valuable tools to be a successful student.
In your Transitions course, you will:
- Connect with fellow students, share experiences, and build community
- Explore strategies for time management, effective studying, health and wellness, financial and career planning
- Learn about tools and resources that help you succeed
Which CORE Transitions Course should you take?
- CORE 100: Take this in your first term if you're coming to OSU directly from high school
- CORE 300: Take this in your first term if you've attended other colleges before coming to OSU
Ecampus sections of CORE 100 or 300 are available to Ecampus Students.
How classes work
Each CORE Transitions course includes:
- A 50-minute large lecture session
- A 50-minute small recitation session (maximum 35 students)
When you register, first pick a lecture time that fits your schedule, then select an associated recitation section.
What students take CORE Transitions?
CORE Transitions is for students in the following colleges and programs:
- College of Agricultural Sciences
- College of Business *
- College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences
- College of Education *
- College of Forestry
- College of Health
- College of Liberal Arts *
- College of Science *
- Undergraduate Exploratory Studies
* College-specific Transitions courses are offered in some terms. Consult your academic advisor to determine if you should take CORE Transitions.
CORE Transitions courses are taught by faculty from the College of Health and other colleges. Undergraduate learning assistants will also support you and make class activities engaging.
