The Moore Family Center kicks off career Q&A pilot event with leading discovery scientist
Dr. Matt Kuchan of Abbott Laboratories kicks off new nutrition mentorship program, designed to connect students with industry professionals for career guidance during the 2025-26 academic year.
In our effort to contribute to career readiness among students enrolled in OSU’s School of Nutrition and Public Health, we’re excited to pilot our up-and-coming Mentorship Program with our first career Q+A event this spring. The Moore Family Center will host Dr. Matt Kuchan, a discovery scientist at Abbott Laboratories, to talk to students about his career and help us set the stage for our program’s launch. Matt has graciously joined our team as a mentor, and we’re excited to pair him with Nutrition students for an on-going mentorship during the 2025-26 academic year.
We aim to provide Nutrition students with the opportunity to enrich their career readiness through the guidance of working-professionals. We want student’s enrolled in our program to deepen their own understanding of their talents and help them build a path forward into the next stages of their careers. The nutrition workforce is evolving, and we strive to integrate academic excellence at OSU with the invaluable insight and wisdom of today’s workforce leaders. We’re looking forward to facilitating a vibrant experience to help prepare the next generation of nutrition leaders.
We’re pleased to begin collaborating with the College of Health’s CATALYST mentorship program to assure we’re poised to create the most impactful experience for students. Our program curriculum will be complimented by the expertise of years of successful mentorship development. Mentees will set clear career goals, benefit from guidance through setbacks and unknowns, and learn about pathways they may not have yet considered. Expanding their network is a plus, too.
We’re looking forward to expanding mentor involvement to all sectors of the nutrition profession. We hope to include dietitians, regulators, researchers, public health professionals, and more. If you’re interested in joining our mentor team or know of anyone in the nutrition field who may consider becoming a mentor, please contact us!
