Academic interests
Jonathan Garcia uses participatory methods to develop public health interventions and advance health equity at the intersection of sexuality, gender, and race. His domestic and global work has focused on devising community-led approaches for social inclusion, HIV prevention, Hepatitis C treatment access, and cancer survivorship support, especially among LGBTQ+ and Latine populations.
Jonathan Garcia earned his doctorate from Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. In 2021, he received the Early Career Teaching Excellence Award from the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH).
Jonathan is the director of the Master of Public Health Program.
