Methylmercury Lab
The Methylmercury Lab
Research related to methylmercury cycling and exposure
The Methylmercury Lab carries out research related to methylmercury cycling and exposure.
Methylmercury is a potent neurotoxin, and in utero exposure is of the highest concern. Our goal is to mitigate methylmercury exposure among vulnerable populations.
We use a multidisciplinary framework, including environmental monitoring, risk assessment, and epidemiologic studies, to fully understand the dynamics of methylmercury exposure.
We also investigate other trace metals, which co-occur with mercury in the environment. The Methylmercury Lab is fully equipped to measure low-level total mercury and methylmercury concentrations in all matrices (soil, surface water, rice, blood, hair, urine, etc.).
