HDFS doctoral students publish research on pregnancy intentions and relationship stress
HDFS doctoral students Amara Bradetich and Madeline Nichols are lead authors of a new article published in the Journal of Family Issues, co-authored with HDFS associate professor Kelly Chandler.
Using data from the Oregon Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), the study found that pregnancy intentions—whether intended, mistimed or unwanted—were differentially associated with the odds of experiencing relationship stressors during pregnancy.
These findings have important implications for family planning policy, couple-focused interventions during pregnancy and postnatal home visiting programs.
