Franziska Loetzner awarded CDC-supported grant for inclusive health project
Congratulations to Franziska Loetzner, kinesiology postdoctoral scholar, who received the 2025–26 Special Olympics Systems Change in Inclusive Health Subgrant, supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her project, SHINE (Supporting Health through Inclusive and Navigable Evaluation), aims to improve how individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities report on their health.
SHINE will develop accessible, sustainable self-report health assessment tools using universal design for learning and implementation science. The project will be co-developed with individuals with disabilities and carried out in collaboration with Oregon State’s IMPACT and IMPACT for Life programs, along with local Special Olympics partners.
The long-term goal is to create inclusive tools that can be adopted nationally to support more equitable health evaluations. Way to go, Franzi!
