College of Health shines at 2023 OPHA Conference

More than 500 public health professionals and students attended the two-day Annual OPHA Conference and Meeting in October, the premier event for Oregon’s public health professionals. The conference offered the latest in public health research and trends, focused learning sessions, thought-provoking speakers and networking opportunities.

Faculty, students and staff in the College of Health all were involved in the conference, and several faculty and graduate students gave presentations about their research. In addition to giving oral presentations, students also made poster presentations.

Four graduate students received the Outstanding Student Poster Award and a one-year OPHA membership: Ivan Estrada, Courtney Jost, Mikala Kowal and Divya Reddy for their poster titled: Toward a New Paradigm in Global Health Research: Sustainable Community and Empowerment (SCOPE).

The college also hosted a social event that brought together 61 attendees and provided a platform for networking, fostering meaningful connections among the diverse group of participants.
