Clinical and ergonomic applications of biomechanics to older adults and people with disabilities. Research aimed at preventing falls and fractures is examining factors that affect a person’s ability to recover from a loss of balance and is quantifying bone loading during exercises to combat osteoporosis. Other research is on the ergonomics of assisted transfers of people with mobility disabilities between a wheelchair and a vehicle seat.
