Dee brings an enthusiastic blend of her diverse kinesiology background and hiring history to her classes. In classroom courses, students apply interpersonal and kinesiology-career skills to take to the field. Within the community, Dee provides the workplace support for students and host companies for impactful experiential learning.
Biography
Dee Gillen is the Experiential Learning Coordinator for the general Kinesiology program as well as an instructor for Kinesiology. Prior to her current position at OSU, she has also been an Instructor and leader for the Aerobics and Fitness area for Physical Activity Courses (PAC), Instructor for Kinesiology (KIN), and the Coordinator for Faculty Staff Fitness (FSF). She holds a BS in Exercise Science and a MS in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology and Corporate Wellness. Dee has been teaching group fitness and personal training since 1996, held Group Exercise Director positions and ran programming since 2003, and was a Health Club Manager for 10 years.
Dee is certified by American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as a Certified Exercise Physiologist and Cancer Exercise Trainer and holds the ACSM Level 2 Exercise is Medicine Credential. Dee is has also held certifications and trainings by the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), Freemotion, Reebok, EFi Gravity, Technogym Kinesis, Zumba, LaBlast, Kinesiotape level 1 and MOSSA Group Power, Blast, Centergy, Fight and Groove programs.
Dee has worked in her career with athletes, children, aging, obese, and rehabilitation populations and loves her job at OSU!
