Academic interests

Dr. Sharp's dissertation focused on the impact of small environmental and built environment cues on portion size and self-reported meal size.

His domestic research interests include meal cues, perceptions of food, eating behaviors, cultural differences in food consumption, and influences on meal size from the built and micro-built environments.

Internationally, he has worked on exploring the utility of the Nutrition Focused Physical Examination and nutrition education in a food-insecure community in western Uganda to improve nutrition outcomes within that community and enhance nutrition advising from their local nutrition staff.
