What inspired or interested you about your field of study? And why did you choose OSU/the college?

My two young children, Josie and Cooper, inspired me to go back to school and they actually inspired my field of study.

I wasn’t confident that I would enjoy the HDFS major because originally I wanted to study health management and policy (which is my minor now), but the more classes I took, the more I loved it because I could relate to so much of the material I was learning.

I chose OSU because I started my degree back in 2013 and I really loved OSU. I wanted to finish my degree at a university I love so much.

Tell us about your time at Oregon State and in the college. Is there someone or something who/that helped you be successful?

Returning to school with a 2.5-year-old and a 6-month-old was not exactly easy, but they were my motivation. With help from my husband, Justin, and some other family and friends, I’ve been able to earn mostly A’s throughout my return to school.

What are your post-college dreams/plans?

Post-graduation I want to find a job within a school district so that I’m able to have a similar schedule to Josie who is going to kindergarten in the fall.

Eventually, I would like to work in a health care system on the administrative side. The VA is where I would like to find a career path.
