How to complete your plan

Meet with your advisor

All College of Health new students within their first year are required to meet with their assigned advisor every academic term: fall, winter, and spring.

Orientations

On-campus students

New on-campus students must attend a START orientation where you will meet with an advisor and get assistance with course registration for your first term.

Ecampus students

New fully online Ecampus students will have an advisor connect with you for your online orientation.

Planning your future courses

First year students

First year students, please create a new plan for your next academic term in your MyDegrees Planner.

Second year students and beyond

For students in their second year and beyond, please create a plan for your next full academic year in the MyDegrees Planner.

For example, students meeting in Spring 2024 should plan for the 2024-2025 academic year for fall, winter, and spring terms.

Need help with this? View the MyDegrees Planner tutorial below.

See which classes you need

Use the COH Degree sheets and maps or Academic Catalog to see which classes you need to complete your degree and make sure you meet the prerequisites for the course before adding it to your plan.

For example, HDFS students must take HDFS 360 and 361 before taking HDFS 461 – so don’t plan to take HDFS 461 before you have completed HDFS 360 and 361.

Bacc Core choice

If you don’t know yet which course you will take to complete a baccalaureate core requirement, enter the class as a “Choice.”

(See minute 1:40 in the MyDegrees Planner tutorial).

To search for available Bacc Core courses for a particular term in the Schedule of Classes, filter for the term you are looking for, and then scroll towards the bottom to filter for whichever bacc core category you are looking for.

Please only filter for one Bacc Core category at a time.

Schedule of Classes

Use the Schedule of Classes to make sure the classes are offered the term you place them in.

For example, PH 203 is only offered in spring or summer term, so don’t place it in your fall or winter term course plan.

Registration timeline

PINs are not distributed until at least week six.

Although your PIN will not be available until at least week six, we strongly encourage you to submit a plan early in the term so your PIN can be loaded into MyDegrees as soon as it is available.

Priority Registration

Students are assigned a registration date and time based on their:

  • Class level
  • Total earned and in-progress credits. Transfer credits are included in your earned credits.

The registration process consists of two different phases. Students may register during their assigned registration time for that phase or at a later time until the end of the phase.

Visit Priority Registration for details.

Registration date and time

Your specific registration date and time will not be set until week six.

Please check your registration date and time to determine when you can register.

Note that this date may be several days or weeks after you submit your plan.
