Health Promotion

This option prepares students for many career opportunities in the areas of public health promotion, health behavior, and disease prevention. Students learn a variety of skills and strategies—ranging from media advocacy and use of communications to intervention and policies designed to improve population health in diverse settings. The program focuses on the socio-environmental determinants of health and disease across the lifespan, with a particular emphasis on health disparities. Graduates are qualified to plan, implement and evaluate programs that address chronic and infections diseases, women’s health, sexuality and reproductive health, violence, substance abuse and addictive behaviors, nutrition, child and adolescent health, and the health of disadvantaged populations.
