Lila is a dance artist and educator originally hailing from the state of Maine. Lila received her BA in Dance and Classical Latin from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, where she additionally completed her Public Education Teacher License for Dance K-12. She moved to Oregon in 2015 to pursue her Master of Fine Arts in Dance at the University of Oregon. During her time in graduate school, she was a Graduate Teaching Fellow in Dance and instructed over thirty undergraduate dance technique courses, including idioms such as ballroom, modern, jazz, Hip Hop, ballet, and Contact Improvisation.  She has been teaching as the Dance Area Leader for the PAC Department since 2019!

Lila is active as a dancer and instructor of Country Western line and partner styles throughout the Eugene/Springfield area. You can find her on Tuesday nights at the Springfield Elks Lodge running a country dance night through her business, Coast2Coast Country Dance & DJ. She also teaches country and ballroom classes for University of Oregon, Willamalane Adult Activity Center, Corvallis Community Center, The Voo in Harrisburg, and The Keg Tavern in West Eugene. Additionally, Lila teaches throughout the area for artistic/performance dance styles, including modern/contemporary, lyrical jazz, and Bollywood, and does freelance dance instruction for weddings and special events.

Lila's research interests include the impact of partnered dancing on well-being and creative process, the impact of social dance in communities, idiomatic fusion for performance and pedagogy, collaborative methodologies from classroom to stage, and the medium of screendance.

When she's not teaching dance, Lila enjoys going dancing!  She also loves traveling, working on creative projects, camping, and spending quality time with her dog and cat.
