Academic interests

Part of Hilary's role as the Assistant Director of Career Development, is to help provide career education to students and staff within the College of Health.

She achieves this by disseminating valuable career resources for College of Health students, collaborating with faculty to implement relevant programming, assisting with career fairs to connect students with opportunities, and foster meaningful connections with alumni and industry partners.

This commitment extends to both on-campus activities and our Ecampus platform, ensuring that students have access to diverse and enriching opportunities for their professional growth.

Biography

Hilary joined the Career Development team at Oregon State University as the Assistant Director for the College of Health in January 2024.

She has over nine years of professional experience in student support services, including five years serving as the Assistant Director of Career Services at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. In her previous role, she successfully oversaw and co-lead a diverse range of career services and programs, showcasing a strong understanding of current best practices in career education and programming.

Hilary is passionate about engaging students in their professional development journeys to successfully find their desired career paths and to help them translate their education into a lifetime of meaningful work.

She holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health from South Dakota State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Black Hills State University.

1:1 Meetings with the Assistant Director of Career Development

Hilary is available for one-on-one consultations with all College of Health students to address various aspects of their career development.

Examples include crafting effective résumés and cover letters, refining interview techniques, developing networking strategies, preparing strong graduate school applications, negotiating job offers, and assistance with job search strategies.

These personalized sessions have proven to be highly beneficial for both undergraduate and graduate students within the College of Health.

Meet with our Career Development peer advisors for résumés reviews, interview prep, or other general career questions.

Drop-in appointments are also available Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. PT, in the Kerr Administration building, room A110.
