403 Unpublished

It's not you, it's us.

Technically 403 is really an "Access denied" error. But that statement just feels too harsh.

On OSU sites a 403 only happens for pages that have been unpublished.

Why?

Why would a page be unpublished?

3.572% of the time there might be a good reason ... kinda.

It seems the most popular reason is that a site editor or unit admin wants to use a page later, but doesn't trust visitors to realize the page contains old info. Such as for an event that isn't currently taking registrations.

It's probably not best web practices ... but oh well.

What now?

Sometimes these unpublished pages are forgotten.

If you think this page really should be published, let us know. We'll get to the bottom of it.
