My interests are centered on supporting and strengthening families using research and evidence-based practice to guide interventions. Currently, I am working with a team on creating a state wide professional development system for parenting educators. Our team is researching best practices in the field, developing core competencies for the profession, and creating training modules to provide ongoing education and professional development for individuals in this career path. A large component of the project is partnership with several stakeholders from around the state to identify cross sector alignment among similar early care and education professions for efficiency in systems. Parenting educators offer an important service to families through the delivery of evidence based parenting education programming and supporting parents in their most challenging job. These professionals in turn need network support and recognition for their important role in working with Oregon families. I am committed to increasing access to quality continuing education for parenting educators and families to provide safe and nurturing environments to improve the health and development of children.
