Melissa Haendel’s background is in neuroscience and developmental genetics, molecular biology, and toxicology.
Her research interests include precision of rare disease diagnosis and using informatics to reduce healthcare inequities.
She has received research funding from numerous agencies including PCORI and NIH (NCI, NCATS, NIAID, BD2K, and Office of the Director) among others.
Melissa received the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries Scholarship award in 2017 and currently serves as a member on international and national research committees and advisory boards related to data guidelines, genomic data, bioinformatics and rare diseases.
