The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, 2nd Edition in November 2018, which represented a needed update to the preceding 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. This seminar will review and evaluate these updates and explore their public health impacts.
John Schuna Jr, Ph.D.'s research program is focused on objective physical activity assessment, sedentary behavior assessment, and physical activity and sedentary behavior epidemiology. His recent work examines how automated technology interfaces with physical activity assessment and the value of total volume of physical activity (i.e., energy expenditure) irrespective of intensity.
He holds a Ph.D. from Dakota State University in Wellness and a MS from North Dakota State University in Exercise Science. Prior to joining OSU in 2014, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher for Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
