Shauna's research focuses broadly on social and emotional learning (SEL) for children, youth, and adults. As a former practitioner and family services professional, she blends practical experience with research to develop and test programs focused on the intersections of SEL, identity, and racial/social justice and study how each can be supported for children, youth, and adults in the context of relationships at school, at home, and in the community.

Michaella Sektnan is an Evaluation Specialist and Senior Faculty Research Assistant with the Extension Family and Community Health program in the College of Public Health and Human Science at Oregon State University. Her main role is to provide program assistance, database management, and evaluation services for grant and contract funded parenting education and early childhood initiatives, including the Oregon Parenting Education Collaborative and Oregon Child Care Research Partnership. She has additional experience working with children and families involved in the child welfare system.

Nadia King | Undergraduate  Student

Nadia King is an undergraduate biology student with a pre-med track. She is interested in pediatrics and has worked with the OPEC team to explore how parenting education and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) screening can be implemented into healthcare practice. Her hope is to develop a well-rounded perspective on how to effectively support families in the future. Nadia works with the OPEC team on a number of projects.
