Parenting Education Research Group

Parenting Education Research Group

We support parents and parenting education professionals as they work to provide safe, stable and supportive environments for young children to thrive.

We are a group of faculty and students dedicated to supporting parents and parenting education professionals as they work to provide safe, stable, and supportive environments for young children to thrive.

This work is accomplished through partnerships with foundations, government agencies, and nonprofits across the state of Oregon, as well as numerous research and evaluation initiatives aimed at providing quality resources and supports for parents and professionals.

OSU is proud to partner with four of Oregon’s largest philanthropic foundations (The Oregon Community Foundation, The Ford Family Foundation, Meyer Memorial Trust, and The Collins Foundation) to expand the mission of the Oregon Parenting Education Collaborative (OPEC). OPEC is a statewide initiative aimed at supporting the delivery of high quality parenting education programs and strengthening parenting education systems across the state. The team at Oregon State University, provides evaluation, technical assistance, professional development support, and resource development.

As part of the College of Health (COH), the Parenting Education Team prioritizes research and evaluation efforts that promote equitable access to the programs, services, and resources that parents need to be the parents they want to be. Research is conducted at the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families, and is a valued program of the the OSU Extension Service - Family and Community Health (FCH).
