Like most people from the PNW I enjoy being outside hiking, camping, skiing, and many other activities. I also enjoy reading and I have recently taken an interest in gardening.
Why did you choose OSU for your Public Health graduate degree?
I chose OSU because financially it made sense for me. However, I would have still chosen OSU because of how welcoming the students and faculty have been throughout my experience.
What is your favorite course you have taken so far?
H 575 Evaluation of Health Programs has been my favorite so far because we got real world experience evaluating real health programs.
Most memorable experience in the program?
I had the opportunity to join Dr. Khanna and a few doctoral students in Botswana for 6 weeks over the summer. I got to see community-based research in practice and was able to develop my own skills and build relationships with members of the community.
What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a graduate degree in Public Health?
My advice would be to not focus on what others have done or are doing. I did that a lot while I was thinking about attending and during my first term. Focus on yourself and do things that get you out of your comfort zone.
If you were to recommend the MPH to a close friend, what would you say?
The MPH degree is a great degree option. Even if you do not end up using it for your future career, you'll develop skills that can be used anywhere.
Is there anything else that you would like to comment on or say about the OSU Public Health graduate programs?
The Public Health graduate program has helped me develop professional skills and build great relationships that I know will follow me throughout my career.
