Dr. Tammy Bray is the Founding Dean of the College of Public Health and Human Sciences, and Professor of Nutrition and Biochemistry. She came to Oregon State University in September 2002 from Ohio State University, where she was professor of nutrition and associate dean for research and international studies. A native of Taiwan, Tammy is a 1967 graduate of Fu Jen University in Taipei. She has a master's degree in nutrition and a PhD in nutrition, both from Washington State University.
Dean Bray's research is focused on antioxidants and free radical metabolism in prevention of diabetes and the role of diets in gene expressions that influence the susceptibility to chronic diseases. She has published more than 110 papers in peer reviewed journals, two books and 100 abstracts and conference proceedings.
Throughout her career, Tammy has received numerous awards and honors recognizing her visionary leadership, her pioneering research linking diet and health, and her teaching and mentoring excellence. Most recently, she guided her college through accreditation as Oregon’s first and only accredited college of public health and human sciences.
