Biography

Svea Olsen, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families at Oregon State University (OSU). In this role, she supports the Oregon Parenting Education Collaboration (OPEC), an innovative network of parenting hubs across the state of Oregon that works to normalize parenting education and deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and culturally responsive parenting education programs. She is currently leading an evaluation of a collaborative initiative between parenting education programs and healthcare organizations in Oregon funded through the Oregon Community Foundation. Svea received her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from OSU, where her research focused on social determinants of health among immigrant youth and families in the United States. Svea is skilled in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods data collection, data cleaning and analysis, and manuscript writing. She is self-motivated, loves organization and improving systems, enjoys working with others, and is passionate about social justice.
