Sandi supports the Oregon State University Center for Health Innovation’s purpose to connect Oregon State University faculty and students with external community, industry, and government partners, in order to create new and expanded opportunities to partner on innovative public health and human sciences workforce development, practice and research.

Biography

Dr. Sandi Phibbs is the Innovation, Evaluation, and Research Manager in the Oregon State University Center for Health Innovation. In this role she supports OCHI’s purpose to connect Oregon State University faculty and students with external community, industry, and government partners, in order to create new and expanded opportunities to partner on innovative public health and human sciences workforce development, practice and research. Her current projects including leading evaluation activities for From Coast To Forest: Building On Community Strengths To Promote Mental Health And Reduce Opioid Abuse In Rural Oregon (funded by USDA NIFA) and Linn Wellness in Neighborhood Stores (funded by the Delivery System Transformation Committee of the Intercommunity Health Network Coordinated Care Organization of Samaritan Health Systems).

Sandi has worked at OSU as a graduate instructor in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences and the Graduate School since 2018. Prior to this, she was an Assistant Professor of Public Health in the Department of Health Science and Recreation at San Jose State University. Sandi completed post-doctoral training with Dr. Karen Hooker at OSU (2015-2017), focusing on the health effects of ageism and mental health among older adults.

Sandi earned her PhD in Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion/Health Behavior at OSU in 2015. She completed her MPH in Community Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and her BA in History at the University of North Texas.
