Biography

Sally is the Principal Investigator of Oregon SNAP-Ed, the nutrition education program administered by USDA Food and Nutrition Service through the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS).

OSU Extension Service has been the implementing agency for SNAP-Ed since the 1990s. This program is delivered in every Oregon county and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.

The SNAP-Ed goal is: “To improve the likelihood that persons eligible for SNAP will make healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose physically active lifestyles consistent with the current DGA and the USDA food guidance”. SNAP-Ed strengthens SNAP’s public health impact by addressing food and nutrition security to improve nutrition and prevent or reduce diet-related chronic diseases among SNAP recipients and SNAP eligible individuals.

Sally is a Professor Emeritus in the College of Health at Oregon State University.
