Nina’s research interests are focused on weight stigma and weight bias. More specifically, Nina aims to understand how social and cultural norms affect weight perceptions and influence disordered eating behaviors, especially in adolescents. In the long term, Nina hopes to develop interventions, using social networks theories to influence shifts in body norms and reduce weight-based stigma. Current research examines how stigma and cultural norms around sexual health influence adolescent sexual health networks and adolescents’ access and utilization of comprehensive sexual health services.
