Melinda is interested in the use of nutritional supplements as therapies for chronic diseases especially those involving inflammation. Her current projects focus on 1) understanding the progressive nature of Western diet (WD)-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and 2) the efficacy of therapeutic docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in attenuating hepatic injury associated with NASH in a mouse model. She plans to advocate for the use of dietary prophylaxis against the development of chronic disease.
